This Monday, Etonkids Vanke City Campus students passed an afternoon with tea and crackers as we celebrated Victoria Day, Canada’s celebration of Queen Victoria. We started the festivity listening to Canadian and British Classical Music while nibbling on snacks hailing from the regions. It was about this time, when suddenly Queen Victoria herself came dashing through the door, giving her greetings and wishes to all of the students, in exchange for some of their snacks of course. The children then formed a circle the size of England herself and commenced in dancing the Queen’s jig, a hodge podge of silly hopping and twirling. The Queen’s jig was followed by classic Canadian and British games, among them Potato and Spoon Race, the Dizzy Turn Race, and Wack the Balloon. The day was a jubilant and merry one, and a fantastic chance for children to explore the culture of two important countries.
