Halfway Report: Etonkids Summer Camp-Journey into Chinese Culture

[Share] [Copy Url ] [Large  Middle  Small]

Amazingly, we’re already at the halfway point of this year’s Journey into Chinese Culture summer camp. We’ve been learning so much having so much fun – the time has gone by too quickly!

At Beijing Global Trade Mansion (one of Etonkids International Kindergarten) and Arcadia campus (one of Etonkids Bilingual Kindergarten), children from diverse backgrounds have been experiencing fun summer camp activities focused around different aspects of Chinese culture and language.

Through practicing traditional arts of landscape painting and calligraphy, children have been gaining an appreciation for the atheistic arts of China. By mimicking the landscape paintings of some of the masters, we try to experience what they did when creating their masterpieces, while envisioning the wondrous places that inspired them. Calligraphy supplements nicely the practical language lessons we experience more often. It’s wonderful to discover how language – something we use everyday – is also an art form. Our hand-eye coordination is also improving, along with our creative development, through making paper cuttings. By getting a chance to try all forms of Chinese art, students can develop an array of talents while finding which are their favorites.

Students are getting lots of fun play and physical exercise at My Gym, thanks to their helpful and caring instructors, and through an array of games and by enjoying the specialized play equipment. We also recently enjoyed a fantastic weather day at Laffitte Castle Park outside the city, where were explored the beautiful buildings and natural surrounding.

We’re happy to see children enjoying the variety of activities at this year’s camp. With a well rounded curriculum of learning and fun, we’re created lots of memories. We just can’t believe its over halfway over!
