As part of our summer festivities, Global Trade Mansion campus of Etonkids International Kindergartens held a “Mother’s Day Tea” on May 8th, 2009.
This festivity started with Mothers joining their child in the art room to make cards and was then to be presented with a special gift-- a hand-painted tea mug. Then everyone moved into the Library to enjoy a musical presentation: children singing English songs, like, “I’ve been swallowed by a Boa Constrictor” and “Skinny-ma-rink-a-dink.” Then there was a special performance put on by two mothers, one mother pouring gung-fu tea while the other played the “GuZheng.” Everyone enjoyed the harmonious and happy atmosphere.
The celebration in Casa was just as exciting! Naomi, the assistant teacher, did a special pouring presentation of Gung-Fu tea, followed by a mother, who’s Japanese, demonstrating how tea is poured in Japan. After the presentations, children asked their mother which tea they prefer to taste (chrysanthemum tea, jasmine tea, oolong tea, or green tea) so that they can serve tea to their mothers with the tea mug they painted. The celebration ended with delicious cucumber sandwiches prepared by Casa children and a song performance.
This was a successful event where children and parents were learning and celebrating the rich diversity that GTM as to offer! We will hold another wonderful event next month!
