2. Competition Schedule

The competition takes place through a Selection, Semi-Final, and Final round.

1. May 4 每 June 12: Registration

2. June 20 每 June 21: Selection Round Prep

3. June 23 每 July 10: Selection Round

4. July 11 每 July 24: Semi-Final Round

5. August 1: Final Round Prep

6. August 8: Final Round

3. Qualifications:

Participants must be between 3-6 years old during the length of competition and not have lived in an English speaking country for more than 6 months.

4. Divisions

Group A: 3-4 years, Group B: 4-5 years, Group C: 5-6 years

5. Entry Fee:
RMB 100/childㄗincludes entry number, all materials, 1 tutoring sessionㄘ

Registration

How to Register:

A. Register Online: Registrations can be completed at http://www.etonkids.com/english/news/248h846t811.html.
Submit payment and receive materials at your local Etonkids campus

B. Register at an Etonkids campus: All registration procedures may be completed at Etonkids campuses.

Group Registration:

A teacher or principal may register an entire group/classroom of students and act as representative for the group/class. The group leader will be responsible for completing group registration, submitting fees and retrieving materials for all participants in his/her group.

Submitting Registrations:

Registrations are accepted at designated Etonkids campuses between 9:00am and 12:00noon, and between 1:00pm and 4:00pm.

Details

1ㄝSelection Round

Participants are asked to make a video, burn the video onto a disk and attach the child＊s contestant＊s number and name on the disk.(Parents without access to the technical equipment may note this on the registration form. A time will be designated where children can have their video made at Etonkids)

Video Content: Self-introduction in English followed by recitation of an English song, rhyme, tongue-twister, poem, or similar.

Length: Between 1 and 2 minutes.

Format:

a. file must be one of the following: AVI﹜MPG﹜MPEG﹜3GP﹜WMV﹜RM﹜RMVB﹜FLV

b. background must be one solid color, either white, yellow, or blue

c. content must be on appropriate topic

d. must be one piece of film unedited and uncropped.

e. child＊s speech must be clearly audible without outside distractions

f. competitor＊s number must be visible on the child＊s right breast

g. failure to meet the above requirements may result in a video being rejected

Judging:

1. shall be conducted by committee with results posted online

2. 100 participants will go on to the Semi-Final Round

2ㄝSemi-final Round:

Content: Comprehension and Picture Matching

Time: 2 to 4 minutes

Requirements:

a:child will be given 10 commands to perform, each command repeated once.

b:child will be asked to match words with pictures within a time limit

Judging:

1. 3 adults will be present, 2 as judges and 1 to film. Results will be posted online.

2. Top 10 scorers will go on the Final Round.

ContentㄩPractical Oral Expression and Talking Pictures
Time: 3-5 minutes

Requirements:
a.Practical oral expression: each participant is required to have a conversation in a specific topic with judges;
b.Talking pictures: each participant is required to describe the picture that the chief examiner provides, ready in 2 minutes and state in 1 minute;

Judging:

1. 5 judges will be present including 2 foreign teachers

2. scores will be made available immediately

3. Each division will have 1 fist place winner; 2 second place winners, 3 third place winners; 4 special mentions.

4. Awards ceremony will take place on site.

The Final Round of the 2009 FLTRP Online English Cup was held on Saturday, August 8^th. The afternoon saw close competition among many talented participants, with support from parents and friends in the audience.
