EMTTA is the first indigenous Montessori teacher education program in China accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) and affiliated with the American Montessori Society (AMS).

Download A Brochure of Early Childhood Schedule and Application Process 2011-12 The minimum time frame for completion of the EMTTA early childhood program is twelve months. The upcoming cycle begins on 25 June 2011 and ends on 23 June 2012. EMTTA begins with a seven-week summer session. Monday to Saturday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Successful completion of the summer coursework allows the student to student-teach in a Montessori classroom. During the student teaching year, there will be six tutorials and three weekend seminars. The student will have a mentor to observe them working with children and provide practical feedback.

· Attendance at Tutorials and Seminars.
· Research projects and observation assignments
· Completion of albums
· Practical Exams
· Additional readings with mindmaps
· Material-design projects for each curriculum area
· Completion of a teacher portfolio
· Completion of the Student Teacher Record and Practice Presentation Handbooks

Applicants must have at least a high school diploma [a bachelors degree is preferred]. Applicants must --
1. submit the completed application form with the non-refundable application fee.
You may apply for Early Childhood(2 1/2-6) English Early Childhood(2 1/2-6) Chinese Infant-Toddler(0-3)Chinese
Transfer of coursework into EMTTA [please arrange a meeting to discuss your Montessori credential]
Certificate of Attendance [for those who do not want to fulfill the student teaching requirement]
2. attend an information session with one of the directors or a staff member
3. submit two original transcripts, in original language and a copy in English. The translation may be done by a lawyer, college/university, or professional evaluating organization that provides translation services. If you have a Bachelor’s Degree, we encourage you to have the degree evaluated by World Education Services [wes.org].
4. submit 2 recent 1”x 1” photos
5. submit a one page essay on “Why I want to become a Montessori teacher.”
MACTE is the premier internationally recognized standard-setting and accrediting body for Montessori teacher education in the world. The American Montessori Society is the foremost advocate for Montessori teacher education worldwide.

The Montessori Early Childhood course and Infant-Toddler course at EMTTA are both affiliated with the American Montessori Society (AMS). The American Montessori Society (AMS) is the foremost advocate for quality Montessori education, an innovative, child-centered approach to learning. AMS sets the high professional standards that inform Montessori education as practiced in AMS-accredited schools and taught in AMS-affiliated teacher education programs.
Both courses hold accredited status from the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE). MACTE is a private, non-governmental organization which advocates high standards in preparation of Montessori teachers. MACTE establishes criteria of program excellence, and evaluates and accredits Montessori teacher education programs. It accredits more than 150 Montessori teacher preparation courses worldwide.
