The land is where our roots are. The children must be taught to feel and live in harmony with the Earth.
If the idea of the universe is presented to the child in the right way, it will do more for him than just arouse his interest, for it will create in him admiration and wonder, a feeling loftier than any interest and more satisfying.

Geography

Geography at Eton is multi-faceted. Children learn about the geological makeup of our planet, while working with the geography materials which reinforce language, fine motor coordination and memory development. By using flags of the world and the large wooden map puzzles, the children memorize the names, shapes, and locations of many countries. This work broadens to include gathering information about various cultures, climates, landmarks, and common land formations such as islands, peninsulas, gulfs, etc. Geography is very closely linked with cultural studies which emphasize the universal needs of human beings and an appreciation of diversity.
